This Privacy Policy explains how Tributary Studios LLC (“we,” “us,” or “Tributary Studios”) handles information in connection with the Cado mobile application (“Cado” or the “App”). We built Cado to keep your personal data on your device. Please read this policy together with our Terms of Service.
The following information is created and stored locally on your device. We do not keep a server-side user profile or database copy. When you request an AI-powered feature, the subset needed for that request is transmitted through our proxy to an AI provider as described in Section 3.
Because this data lives on your device, deleting the App or using the in-app “Delete my data” control removes it. You can also export a copy at any time from the Profile screen.
Cado’s core feature is AI-generated meal planning. To provide it, we send the inputs needed for a given request through a server-side proxy we operate on Google Cloud (Firebase Cloud Functions). The proxy normally sends updated-app requests to OpenAI’s API and can send requests to Google’s Gemini API for compatibility or if the primary provider fails. Depending on the action, these inputs may include your goal, dietary preferences, allergies, cultural eating styles, calorie/macro targets, cooking constraints, budget, and the text you type to the coach.
OpenAI or Google processes this information to return a response. Their handling of API data is governed by their respective terms and privacy commitments for API and cloud services. We send only what is needed to fulfill your request, and we do not send this data for advertising purposes.
Our proxy logs limited request metadata for reliability, abuse prevention, and cost control. This can include timestamps, request type, response status, token counts, and a stable identifier derived from Apple’s original subscription transaction. That identifier lets us associate requests with a subscription but does not give us your Apple ID, name, email address, or payment details. These logs are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Cado offers auto-renewable subscriptions sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes your payment and manages your subscription; we never receive or store your payment card details. To verify your subscription before allowing AI usage, the App sends Apple’s signed transaction record to our proxy, which validates it with Apple. See Apple’s privacy policy for how Apple handles purchase data.
We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash and error diagnostics so we can fix problems. When the App crashes or hits an error, Crashlytics may collect device and diagnostic information such as device model and operating system version, app version, the sequence of events leading to the crash, stack traces, and a randomly generated installation identifier. This information is not used to identify you personally and is used solely to improve stability.
If you opt in, Cado schedules local notifications (shopping-day, prep-day, and trial reminders) directly on your device. These are not push notifications and do not involve sending your data to a server. You can turn them off in the App or in iOS Settings.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers described above (OpenAI, Google Gemini and Firebase, and Apple for purchases) to operate the App, and where required by law. If you use the “Share grocery list” or “Export my data” features, you choose where that content goes.
On-device data is retained until you delete it (via “Delete my data,” or by deleting the App). Because we do not keep user accounts, there is no server-side profile to delete. Diagnostic data held by Crashlytics is retained according to Google’s retention schedule. Proxy request logs are retained for a limited period for operational purposes.
Cado is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Cado provides general nutrition and meal-planning information for healthy adults. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare professional. Do not use Cado to diagnose or treat any condition. If you are pregnant or nursing, have a medical condition, or have a history of disordered eating, consult a professional before changing your diet.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by notice in the App.
